Hello! My name is Desiree Galloway, I am the founder of Desired Cleaning Specialists LLC - thank you for joining me on this journey to discover what it takes to build a world-class commercial cleaning franchise from scratch! This blog will hopefully serve as a resource for both myself and dear readers to evolve and grow using learning lessons, tips, tricks, and industry insights to light our way on our path to bring dreams to fruition.

I started DCS in May 2016 at 23 years old. Like most new entrepreneurs, I dove in head first just as naïve as ever. I've made plenty of mistakes which led me to seek the guidance of many mentors, books, and publications to fine tune how this business operates. So far, we have cleaned everything from apartments to restaurants, automotive shops and garbage cans (that one deserves it's own post eventually). However, one thing remains a common denominator across the board: No matter what niche, the cleaning industry as a whole, lacks structure and standards, making it one of the most competitive and volatile industries to try succeed in.

And that's what makes it captivating!

Building a Business

Thanks to extremely low overhead and no special certifications required, a cleaning company is one of the easiest businesses to start - I know that's why I got into it. With minimal investment and time it is possible to be fully and successfully self employed within your first few months. You will have control of your schedule and time with the availability to move about life as you please, with an income to match.

Then comes the reality check - you can be a contractor with a DBA name, or you can own and operate an organization. Eventually, every entrepreneur comes to this crossroads. I chose to build and if you're here, you have too (or maybe you just came for the cleaning tips - that's cool too).

Building a Community

Cleaning is fun! It's our mantra within DCS. We are all Specialists at what we do and that's what makes it fun! We learn, we innovate, we discover - then lather, rinse, and repeat. The only way to apply that theory to our industry is to practice it together as a collective and redefine what it means to be "Cleaners".
